Construction activity beats forecasts: ABS data

THE amount of construction work done in Australia rose 2.7 per cent in the September quarter, as per data from the ABS.

Total building work completed this quarter, including homes and non-residential buildings rose 1.5% from the June quarter.

More expansion for Australian housing construction

News.com.au is reporting that housing construction activity in Australia has expanded for two months in a row - the first time this has happened since 2010 and a sure sign that the low interest rates are slowly working to get the housing and construction sectors back on track.

The Victoria Street extension is the final link in Toowoomba’s Outer Circulating Road system and involves the construction of a new four-lane road to connect Victoria and Russell Streets with Chalk Drive and Ruthven Street.

CFMEU Tells Abbott to Stop Attacking Construction Workers

Dave Noonan, the secretary of the Construction, Forestry, Mining and Ernergy Union has asked Tony Abbott's government to stop discriminating abgaist blue collar construction works.

Noonan called for the Abbott government to abandon its legislation reintroducing the Australia Building and Construction Commission (ABCC).

Housing construction comeback to benefit trades across Australia.

Sourceable are reporting the recent upturn in housing starts will benefit tradespeople across “almost all categories in residential (Australian) construction”.
Harley Dale, chief economist for the Australian Housing Industry Association, has advised they are hoping for an increase in demand for skilled trades in 2014.

Western Australia Takes Top Spot in ComSec Report

With the help of a $34 billion liquefied gas project, the North Territory has been propelled to the top of Australia in construction activity when compared with historic averages.

Western Australia and Queensland also saw strong levels of construction activity relative to historic averages.

Will Australia become the world's leading LNG exporter?

ABC are reporting the the LNG industry are Australia's fastest growing export sector. Industry Minister Ian Macfarlane during the Australian National Conference on Resource and Energy, October 3:
"Australia will shortly become the second largest - or optimistically, the largest - exporter of LNG and that is nothing short of amazing,"
They're estimating we will produce 83m tonnes of LNG by 2017. Read more by clicking here.

Stockland says Australia is now enjoying a turnaround in housing construction.

Stockland, the biggest diversified property group in Australia, have said a turnaround in housing construction is currently occuring. Chief Exec Mark Steinert: "Certainly 2013 was a challenging year for the company but we're very pleased that we now have projects, like Willowdale, coming to market at normal margins and we see them as a key part of our growth strategy moving forward," SSteinert also advised "...we are convinced that the market has turned around and will continue to grow from here." A report shows the Queensland economy will rebound on the back of a stronger housing and construction sector supported by a softer dollar, record low interest rates and a population growth rise. JBP Construction Awarded 496 Man Camp at Yandi, Australia

JBP Construction awarded 496 Man Camp at Yandi Sustaining Project 

JBP Construction was recently awarded the contract to construct the 496 Man Camp on the Yandi Sustaining Project by Pindan Contracting Pty Ltd. 

Work is scheduled for completion November 2013.
